Funny Story and a FLASH FREEBIE - Now until Midnight tonight (Arizona time)...

Alright!! You don't have to tell me twice that I have been slacking!! I am a little late for a Friday post, but I was determined to connect with all of you!!

In my last post, I talked about insecurity and how it can hinder our lives; however, I never really mentioned anything in terms of the insecurities of men. I think I tend to believe that women have far more to deal with in this area, but I was just proven wrong!!!

Insecurity can make us do weird, embarrassing, and stupid thing sometimes ( can I get an AMEN...hahaha)...  It can even make men do weird things... take my husband, for instance...

My husband has had gray hair for some time now. He started going gray when he was about 28-ish.. or close to that age.  Although I like his gray hair, he is always saying how it bothers him. Yesterday, we ended up having to re-schedule an install, so he was home all day. Mix in some frustration, some boredom, a little insecurity, and a not-so-great day....AND you get... a man that will do crazy things I tell ya!!..haha

Yesterday, while I was working, he peeked into my office and asked, "What would you say if I tell you I want to dye my hair?"

ME: Why do you want to dye your hair??

Husband: It's so gray and I don't want to cut it.

ME: Why not just leave it gray? I like the gray...

Husband: Slowly moving his hand from behind his back, revealing an old box of hair dye... but not just any hair dye... the bleach blonde...WHAT-WAS-I-THINKING...type of hair dye...

What about this??

ME: BWAHAHAHA!! Are you serious??!! You want to go bleach, beach blonde??? BWAHAHAHAHA!!! That is going to look ridiculous!! BLONDE??? REALLY??? BWAHAHAA!!!

I don't think my laughter was amusing him...  he just stood there waiting for a real answer. Can you imagine if he had done that to me if I asked for his opinion when I was feeling insecure about something?? Now to think of it... I was not very encouraging at all.... Mind you..... this hair dye was something that I bought a couple of years ago while going through a storm of insecurities. Luckily, I tucked that one away and opted to keep my natural hair color, but the box still sat in the cabinet... waiting for the next person who might be feeling insecure...

Anyway, after getting tired of trying to convince him to NOT dye his hair....something a little evil snuck in my head and I began to encourage him... just for the laugh!!! After 13 years of marriage, I still LOVE a good belly laugh!!! In fact, I couldn't even contain my giggles while I was helping him apply the toxic mix...

Now to think of it...

I wonder if there is an expiration date for hair dye?? That stuff was more toxic than bleach in an UN-ventilated room...AND he had to leave it on for 60 minutes!!!

When all was said and done... I got my laugh!! Bwahahahaha!!! He will opt to cut his hair after today. Part of my "deal" in agreeing to support this decision was that he had to keep the look for one day.. no matter the outcome. It was actually what motivated my giggles....

Without further adieu... Here is it friends!!! It is actually not THAT bad, but I miss the gray!! Doesn't he look happy?? bwahahaha.... Charlie (the dog) is very in-tune to feelings and was quite comforting!! More so that I was....OBVIOUSLY, I was enjoying this a bit too much!!

Although it is done.. and the hair will be gone by this evening, something hit me when I was reading this morning. Men have insecurities too and I should be just as supportive. I am not sure he would have been able to sleep in the house if he acted the same as I did to him!! Shame on me!!! Either way, it was still funny and I am sure we will laugh about this for a long time....

Don't start thinking too poorly of me just yet... he was right beside me laughing as well.... I think he enjoyed the humor in it just as much as I did...

One thing I have to realize today is that men really do struggle with appearance issues more now than ever!! The media is quite brutal on men in many ways... for one, if you have caught a few "family" commercials, there will always be the over-worked and "annoyed" mother, the kids using electronics, and the husband is always depicted doing something completely idiotic... sending the message that men are stupid. Not a good message for our kids today...

Anyway, if an insecurity of yours has made you do something silly, I would love to hear about it!! If we can't reach perfection, at least we can laugh about our  imperfections!!! It helps us know that we are human... and that is all that should really matter... (YEAH right)...

Well, before I let you go, I have a few things to share with you!! Here are a few of my latest and greatest... I LOVED drawing these flamingos and I am working on adding quite a few more...They turned out so silly and fun... just my style...

This set has not been a real big hit at my shop, but I still LOVE them... One must have a certain quality within their personality that would draw them to these..hahaha - and for those of you who are drawn to these fabulous flamingos.... I MUST know you!! hahaha

I also created some matching papers to go along with these. you can click on the images to check them out on TpT.

I uploaded the following sets just last night!! After working on a blog design, I was completely inspired to create these. In fact, I  just couldn't seem to stop myself... I created 10 Chalky Themed Text Frame Styles!! I just loved how they were looking!!! Each style includes 12 images with different colored dashed borders above the chalkboard layer. The images below link to my TpT store where you can check them out...

This morning, I decided to put one of the new sets up as a FLASH FREEBIE!!! I took a vote on FB, but no one could choose just one..hahaha... I am working on getting these to fit within one downloadable bundle, but until then, I have decided to offer set #10 for today's FLASH FREEBIE!!! Scroll to the end for more info...

TODAY ONLY!!!
Chalky Frame Set #10 will be FREE... that's right, FREE until Midnight tonight Arizona (MTN) time... You can grab this set by clicking the image. Thank you so much for your support!! Calling all Pinterest Hoarders!!! You know who you are..hahaha... I love you and I can't tell you how much I appreciate all of the pins!! Your obsession to pin helps me to support my family, so pin away!!! hahaha...

Some Self-Reflection this Saturday...

I caught myself thinking about the word, responsibility, after giving someone close to me a short  mini lesson about what it means to take responsibility for our actions. It's a funny word...to be honest with you. I was trying to explain that taking responsibility for your actions does not mean simply stating the words, "I take responsibility for that."

While trying to explain what is does mean in such a way to bring perspective, I found myself completely side-tracked by the word itself. There are two words in responsibility: Response + Ability (or able); meaning at we have that ability to change our own responses. It was at that point that I began an inter monologue- after realizing that I was actually giving myself a mini lesson. Isn't it funny when life does that to us?? Or does that just happen to me?

It seems I am the most knowledgeable in the areas where I need the most help. Go figure!

The whole conversation started because this person (whom I will refer to as this person..haha) has had a bit of an attitude lately and nothing I said or did was helping the situation and I ended up being "infected" by the funk. Yes, the person's attitude was affecting me...no, it was impossible to ignore...BUT... I could have easily taken responsibility to choose my response.

I have learned (but not quite accepted) that when someone wants to be mad or upset, they will do anything and everything to suck as many people in with them in that boiling state. This person will say things deliberately meant to hurt others and then hope and wait for a reaction. If it is not an angry reaction, this person will just keep trying. If you have come in to close contact with someone like this... I will be praying for you... and if not... you are very lucky and should be thanking God with every breath you take.

People like this can literally suck the life, energy and motivation from you down the the very core of who you are. I am one of those people that gets sucked in every single time - no matter how deliberately I make an effort to change my response. No matter how I change my response, I always allow the behavior to get the best of me and I LOSE it!!

It is like the movie, The Devils Advocate... you know at the very end, where Keanu's character decides to make a different choice after seeing where the first choice will take him...and then the story lets us in on the secret that the devil will play any angle possible to get you.

However, it is not like this movie in the sense that we do have other options.... we have the freedom to speak and the freedom not to speak. Sounds simply easy, right? WRONG!! It is not easy to stand completely silent when someone is throwing insults your way... It takes an extreme amount of self-control.

Meanness is very ugly.

I have a very different respect now for Jesus. I grew up going to church and hearing the same Bible stories to the point of numbness; however, learning to understand those stories through life will bring an entirely different meaning to them. I can't imagine how difficult it must have been for Him to stand in the public eye and be torn down...and NOT say one word to defend himself. He didn't need to defend Himself because He knew who He was and so did those who loved Him.

Although it would be a nice benefit to have the entire picture laid out right in front of me and to know WHY I must go through certain situations, I can have peace in knowing who I am, knowing that those who love me know who I am and taking the ability to change my own response when it happens again.

If you would like to know where this is coming from.... well, I purchased a book on Amazon and I am taking some time to tackle some of the issues in my life that have plagued and debilitated me. I am not saying that a book will heal you from anything; however, it can bring awareness and comfort - and allow you to address things in your life that you might have not been willing to address if you could just stuff the junk to the bottom of your core  - hoping it disappears on its own...it won't.

That pain only gets worse over time. People do not simply "get over" it... So if you plan to tell someone to "get over it" as advice, please un-friend yourself from that person on your own... you will only cause more damage. Be living and understanding. However, if you want to help, ask that person what it is that is really bothering him/her and then offer to be a listening ear. Even if you don't want to listen... do so because you might learn something about yourself in the process. Most women (I can truly only speak for myself), do not want to be interrupted with the offer of a quick and meaningless solution. Most (again I can only speak for myself), just want to be heard. And truly heard..... Think about it. Why would anyone want there to be someone else to talk to and listen to them?? Not for the attention, and not for a reason to dump either (although, there are those out there that do want this)... Most want to feel like they matter in this world and that there is at least one person who cares that they exist.

I am not sure if many of you know, but I had quite a tumultuous childhood and I have struggled with other things in my marriage that have caused quite a lot of pain. So much so, that at time, I have felt completely hopeless. Pain, when not healed, can manifest itself in all sorts of ways - anger, depression, fear, insecurity, bitterness, and ultimately hopelessness. If you have ever made it to the point of hopelessness (trust me, I have), then your pain has probably gone through a transformation and manifested itself in several ways and in more than one time.

I am no longer in a place of hopelessness, but in a place of hope. I know that I have quite a lot of pain to address and clean out. I often do not even know where to begin, but God does know where to begin. He reveals himself in the most inconspicuous of ways....like when you are giving someone ELSE a mini lesson on responsibility..HA!!  I am sure that many of you out there might read this and think I am crazy for talking abut Jesus, but I am not a preacher and I am FAR from perfect (beyond far). I will not be offended if you do not believe in God.. or your belief system is different from mine. I will not even claim to have all of the answers... or even attempt to try and prove that God is real... I know He is real because He is real to me... but that is another story in itself.

I am sharing this with you because I know that I can not possibly be the only woman out there dealing with the junk life handed to me as a child and that I am the only one with a mountain of insecurities that would make Mt. Everest look like an ant. This is part of what I am working on this summer and I would love to chat with anyone else out there that may be struggling with the same issues. I would love to hear your stories and read about your personal journeys.

I HIGHLY recommend this book by the way. I am very impressed with Beth Moore's writing style, her ability to find humor in anything and how open she is about her own struggles as well as those she writes about in the book. It is quite a good read!! I would have loved to do this as a group or book study... it is definitely one of those books!

Her book is called, So Long Insecurity and you can find it on Amazon. I even think you can get the Kindle version...maybe. Click HERE to check it out and if you happen to get it - let me know... I would love to get a book chat going!! What are friends for anyway?? haha... not just to drink and tell jokes I am sure...hahaha.

Have a very happy weekend!! I hope you learn something new about yourself...or someone else..haha!!

FREEBIE Friday!! Fun Rainbow Fuzzy Triangle Graphics!!

Hi Everyone!!

FREEBIE FRIDAY is already HERE!!! Holy Cow!!
I know... Double post, but I wanted to make sure you got a FREEBIE for Friday!!
I PuFfY HeArT You!!

I am a bit of a mess right about now!! I am currently working on 5 blog designs this month, along with other orders and digital clip art, so I am crazy busy at the moment. I did manage to soak up some sun today and I can NOT believe how HOT it is!!! My GOODNESS!!! Boy did that sun feel good on my skin!! LOVE IT!!

Although this is a super short Friday post, I did manage to pull together a FREEBIE!!! I have some really cure stuff almost ready for Father's Day themes, but that will have to wait until tomorrow... Sorry friends!!! I created this set below (not because I was going mad in the wee hours...haha) for a friend of mine who needed a super quick triangle to make some things she was creating. She was using my Rainbow Fuzzies set in a resource she was creating and I whipped these up for her. I could not charge her because... really... it took me about five minutes to create these (okay, more like 30 minutes, but who's counting). I hope these put a smile on your face and you are able to use these for something fun and creative. Just click the pic to download the set on TpT for FREE!!!

If you like these, please leave some sugar!!! I love the feedback... although, I have neglected my question area today...I better get on those Q & A's... first thing in the morning....

ENJOY!!!

HAPPY FRIDAY YA'LL!!!

Clipart Challenge Linky

Hi Everyone!!

Several fabulous clipartists and bloggers have come together for an amazing Clipart Challenge hosted by Primary Possibilities!  Each blogger is featuring a clipartist and a product they made using that artist's images!  This is a great way to discover new clipart creators for your summer creations.   So keep reading and following the linky at the bottom to head on to the next post!  You may even pick up some freebies along the way!

I had the honor of being teamed up with Christina from...
Bunting Books and Bainbridge
I was very excited when I found out that I was teamed up with Christina. She is such a sweatheart & amazingly talented!! The way this works is that I provide her with some clip art (inspiration) and then allow her to put her creative talents to work.
Although she actually owns a lot of my graphics sets, I had put up some new things for her to get excited about..WOo HOo!!

With my Specialty Cakes Clipart downloaded, she went straight to work on creating a fun resource.

In about a week (yes...she is that good), she was able to create a fun cake-themed inference activity filled with useful goodies titled,

Included in the resource (taken from her TpT store description found HERE):

Ten fun cakes and order forms are included as well as:
*an 8.5"x11" sign defining inferences to display during your study
*a letter from the owner of the bake shop explaining the task
*an extra set of order forms with the important information in red
for students who need extra support
*3 versions of the student recording sheet
*3 extension activities where students can design their own cakes
*an "I can" statement card to display during your study

Read more about this resource and discover what other Clipart Challenge Resources were created by clicking HERE!!

I can't wait to see what other artist/teacher teams came up with!! This was so much fun and I just have to give a BIG GIANT
THANK YOU
to Staphany from Primary Possibilities for putting this entire challenge together!!

There's a Snake in My Boot!!!

Okay... there is NOT a snake in my boot, but... did I at least get your attention??? hahaha
Well, I have worked straight through the night... well knowing that I have a Dr.'s  Apt. today.... I think my Dr.'s advice might be for me to get some rest.... yikes!! So, if you catch spelling or grammatical errors, just pretend that I am sending you a text message and guesstimate my words to the nearest syllable or use context clues to determine what makes sense... hahaha... I am afraid I will not be much good for editing in this post... BUT... I am posting.... WOo HOo!!

Hey... if it makes you feel better (for all of you grammar Nazi's out there), cut and paste the worst offenses and save them for lessons where you can allow your students to spot the crimes... I have done my time in school...let them have a go at it..haha

On to the REAL news...
I have been working very hard adding many new features to my blog and getting my website ready to be published!! I am far more picky when it comes to my own blog/web design & I tend to get SOOOO side-tracked by my fascination of web coding and the need to WOW all of you... So.... tell me.... have I wow'ed you yet, or are the moving parts a bit of a distraction?? Be honest... I can take it (use an eCard if you need to..haha). I am beginning to think that there are too many things moving on the blog, but I like them all individually... You all have to look at it too, so please... let me know what you all think...

Moving on....

I have added a TON of new links, forms and pages to my blog and I would LOVE for you to check them out while you're here today...

New links...

Located in the Custom Design Drop-Down menu (top navigation) you will find...

DESIGN SERVICES
I have created a very cool interactive image link (which I will be putting together an awesome tutorial for). Click on the hanging signs in the image to link to the services and forms that I now have available to you!! Here is a mini-me of what the page looks like.... Now tell me that isn't cute!!! I dare you!!!

Using the image map links, you can now order a custom blog design, a custom blog linky button, Blogger add-ons, and even....

send me a custom request by filling out a form!!! I am so excited!!!

(I know.... for those of you nerds out there, this is old school coding; however, how else am I supposed to organize info like this on a blog page..plus, I like it... I "LOK" IT A-LOT)

Another NEW page added is one you will DEFINITELY want to check out. Navigate your little fingers to push your pointer up to the "Hoarder Heaven" tab on the drop-down menu (Under the header and the last tab to the right of the navigation menu) Hover over "Hoarder Heaven" and click on the "Freebies" link to go straight to my NEW Freebie Frenzy Page...

This page pretty much speaks for itself, but I will just tell you that I have made finding all of my freebies....that much easier!!! The page looks a little crazy; however, I was going for a "ROSS" sort of feeling... You might have to sift a bit, but there are labeled sections... and now when your friends ask you where you got your freebies, you can tell them....

Do you LOVE it?
I LOVE it!
I GOT IT AT ....

The3amteacherblog...

If you say it really fast (excluding all of the consonants, except for the letter, r), you might pull off a one syllable word... I am still working on that part...hahaha I should make a button for that and start a blog linky.... hmmmm... ideas are beginning to flow right about now....

Well, this was a super, SUPER short blog post, but I wanted to give you some time to browse through the new sections and grab some freebies that you might not yet have. I will be adding to this page throughout the day, so keep checking in to see if there is something new... Trust me... ALL of my freebies are name brand - top of the line - stuff.... although some might have some slight imperfections... like for instance, the pocket might be sewn shut and you won't know this until you get home...

Oh wait, I am referring to my high school horrors of being forced to shop at Ross... Never mind... I don't make imperfections... I make perfections with deviations from the normal...hahaha

Enjoy Hoarder Heaven and don't forget to leave me some lovin' on TpT when you download something...I truly love the complements... they keep me motivated and focused!! Bring on the positive reinforcements, friends! I am gonna need it after this night. Am I somehow typing in a bigger font? Everything suddenly seems much easier to read.... Strange occurrences begin to happen (wait, that sounds redundant..if they are occurring  then they are already happening...hahaha). I better end this before I completely lose it!!

But before I go... here is another new creation of mine. I am IN LOVE with these colors and this set actually came to life by accident...at first. These colors make me happy (was I too subtle in the title, you think?). This set is only $3.50... for life!!! I would love some feedback if you happen to need these colors in your collection... because...like me...they make you happy....(I am thinking of a theme song as we speak...urrr... as I type - I hope you can hear it too)...

Find this on...

Happy Tuesday Everyone!!!

True Story, a Tutorial, and FREE STUFF!!!

Happy Monday Everyone!!!
 photo 3am_star_blank_zps7763ad17.png
I hope all of you are having a great start to a fun summer (if you are on summer break yet...some of you are  not... you poor things..haha). I have truly missed blogging and reading blogs over the last several months and I am making a pact with myself (and all of you) to write/blog everyday. I am going to make sure to post something everyday and I would also like to get more into writing better tutorials. I have learned a great deal about web coding and I would love to share some of that knowledge with all of you!!

I could definitely use a little push... Okay, who am I kidding?? I need a stern kick in the derriere (which I just had to Google to spell....haha) from all of you every once in a while when I start to drop off the blaggon  (Blogging + Wagon = Blaggon).

I think I may have just invented a new word... (yeah me).

So, any one of you can elect yourself to email me and tell me to get focused!!! Or better yet,  I give you permission to send me a someecard if need be... one like this...
and I will hear the message loud and clear!!  BWAHAHA!! I love these cards!!! I would really appreciate it... and I do not get offended over the vulgar ones either... call it a guilty pleasure if you will.

This reminds me of a story that happen to me several months ago, which I will so lovingly share with you, as this situation could also happen to you (or maybe it already has)..

True Story...
I once re-posted one of these cards that I thought was so hilarious even though it used the "F" word, and the reaction to the card was split quite evenly down the middle. Some people thought I needed to find my way back to church and that I should not be posting things that were out of "my" character....and the ones who weren't in shock, not only laughed with me, but quickly jumped in on the thread to defend my honor.

The truly hilarious thing about this was that I had quickly logged into Facebook in the morning, commented on a few posts, liked a few pics, saw the ecard, laughed Diet Red Bull through my nose, re-posted the image and then logged off for a few hours. It was only after I logged back onto Facebook that I realized I had caused quite a stir with the image.

I did feel embarrassed that I had brought some people to feel the need to comment with a sermon and a few Bible verses, but I was quite surprised at how many people (even those I didn't know) who jumped in to defend me. Don't get me wrong... I like to be looked up to and I never want to offend anyone, but I also have a dry sense of humor (need I say more). My sarcasm can also get me into trouble at times, but who likes people without flaws??

There is no mystery and intrigue in something that is perfect, in fact, it is the imperfections in the world around us that propels us to define "perfect". I am sure there were many people offended by Da Vinci's fascination and need to draw the grotesque in his time. Even though  Da Vinci was drawing people with abnormalities -people whom no one wanted to look at- no one can deny the beauty in his art. When we look at one of those images, we are looking at those people through his interpretation... one of great detail and intrigue and...even beauty.

Okay... maybe I am not necessarily comparing Da Vinci's grotesque art with the "f" word... or maybe I am. The "F" word, as text, is typography  - - typography is art - art can be vulgar and grotesque...see the connections??  Art is human history in its rawest form.

I can emotionally connect to typography as art and not be in need of a second baptism... is all I am saying...hahaha This was not the direction that I was planning for this post; however, since I am already in the thick of it and there is no turning back now (unless I want to start over....which, we all know if I do, will only prolong my lack of posting in the first place), I have decided to share some of that techy knowledge I mentioned earlier to you with a little "come-back" techy tutorial...

What to do if a friend on your FB feed posts something you do not like, but you don't want to un-friend the friend...

1. Hover your mouse over the Facebook post (anywhere).

When you do this, a little arrow will appear in the top right corner of the post.

2. Click on the arrow and a drop-down menu with a few options will appear as such...

       Follow Post
       Hide...
       Report Story or Spam
(see image below)

3. Click the "Hide..." option and the post will disappear and a couple of options will show up; although, it is not necessary that you choose one of the following options. You can simply "hide" the post and move on. I have rarely used these options below (see image)...

      You can  also choose to...
      * Unhide (just in case you clicked this option by accident)
      * Hide all stories from the person
               or...
      * Unlike the person

For this tutorial, I just took a screenshot of the most recent feed and I chose to "Unhide" the post right after I had chosen to "hide" it.  I was not offended by anything posted by Teaching 4 Real... just so we have that cleared away... hahaha

*********************************************************************************

Wow! This has been quite a productive post indeed... I had no idea I would be including a tutorial today!!! ha!

Well, I don't want to give you too much to think about on one day, so I am going to leave you with a link to a few NEW digital graphics I have completed.... as well as a FREEBIE!!

U.S. Independence Day is right around the corner, so I thought I would share the new things I have created for 4th of July themes. For those of you who may not celebrate, these are still cute and can be used for just about anything...

4th of July Themed Graphics!!!
Okay, I admit... I went a little overboard with this first set of digital papers!!! This was not even the half of them either. I just went crazy and ended up having to create an insanely ginormous digital paper set because I did not have a color scheme I was focused on..hahaha

There are over 100 digital papers in this set....all with fun stars!! hahaha

Find this Set on...

Here are a couple free backgrounds (not included in the set) for you to grab. I played around with a lot of colors and I have a few that I LOVED, but they didn't really fit the theme I was going for...hahaha

For those of you with a MAC  - I LOVE you too... Click on the thumbnails below to grab these FREE digital backgrounds/papers from my Free Backgrounds Photobucket Album. I add to this album every now and again, so it might be something you will want to bookmark...Enjoy!!
Please read my Terms of Use before using any of my free graphics.

This set speaks for itself... This one is my favorite and includes some extra fun accents to create covers, notes, cards and anything else you can think of...

I also created a 3-part series of themed mini sets in a few of my favorite shades for 4th of July themes...

 Berry July

Shades of Blue

Nana's Quilt

4th of July FREEBIE
I created this set especially as a freebie for all of you who follow and support my work. Thank you for allowing me to do what I love everyday, for helping me to support my children, and for your encouraging feedback!!
